I’m really excited to launch our first weekly bulletin for OmniRaise.
If I wasn’t a fundraiser, I was actually going to be a lawyer or journalist if you can believe it! I’ve always believed in the power of writing to inform us, inspire us and move us, and am a big reader myself.
In the end fundraising for the world’s best causes, which had been my part-time job at uni, pulled me harder than my journalism degree. I never looked back. But now, 16 years now into my career, it’s nice to be working on my first publication with our team. I hope my professors can finally forgive me!
Our inspiration for this publication, like many great ideas in OmniRaise, actually came from you. In our recent pulse survey, we heard from all of you that you want to hear more about what’s going on in the company. Our monthly Town Halls are one great step in the right direction, but in our recent focus groups, the idea of a bulletin was put forward to help strengthen our communication across the organisation. Thank you for your inspiration, as always.
Now more than ever, we are in need of good stories to read that energises and inspire us. Our newsfeeds are normally filled with more fluff than insight, more doom and gloom than hope and inspiration. Most of the time we’re all left wondering what’s actually real too. I hope our publication can be a fresh voice for you all to read.
This year of the pandemic has been tough as we’ve spent much of it apart. It’s hard to stay connected. We’ve seen the rise of Zoom but if you’re anything like me, sometimes we all need some time to sit down and recharge. A bulletin gives us the space to stay up to date, to keep connected with things happening across the company, but in our own little quiet time, without the overwhelming sense of needing to be “switched on.”
We don’t quite have the resources for a daily publication yet, like most of us get our news, but have settled on a weekly format (perhaps ambitiously some may say – but that’s how we roll). The bulletin will cover the latest news and updates from our teams or our clients, recognition of great performances or milestone achievements, celebrations of birthdays and promotions, and even knowledge or insights from any corner of our team (whether related or not to OmniRaise – we want to give a voice to our team.)
A big thank you to Balkish and everyone on our editorial team Wei Ee, Shargan, Nazihah, Mughen, Shamini, Shaundtrya, Wan Teng, for their efforts in driving this first edition. And I encourage you to send your feedback to the editorial team when you can. If you can believe it, my dad actually still writes letters to the newspaper – and sometimes they read it and respond (and even publish it!) Like with everything in our business, we’re always open to hear any voice so please do share as much constructive feedback as you can with me or our team. I’m contactable always at [email protected]
Look forward to keeping in touch. Stay safe everyone!
